[vi] 204pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece and occasional further illustrations in text.  In decorated buckram cloth boards with gilt lettering front and spine.  Cloth is worn, rounded at corners, spine cloth absent.  Previous owner's name inked on front paste down, dated 1848.  Endpapers smudges with a few mild marks, front hinge cracked. A hint of page toning and occasional signs of fingers. Stories from English history, romanticised, with chapters on The Black Prince,The Upright Chancellor, The Prisoner of Fotheringay. The Earl of Essex, The Great Fire, etc.
