xliii, 132pp, with a tissue-guarded colour plate frontispiece and five further tissue-guarded colour plates. All pages bordered, those of the introduction in silver and those of the text in gold gilt.ย  In richly decorated cloth boards. Top edge gilt.ย  8vo.ย  Covers a tad toned, gently rubbed at extreme corners and spine tips.ย  Text block edges a little darkened with the occasional small mark. Endpapers tanned else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Originating in France in the latter part of the 12th century, Aucassin and Nicolette is the tale of two lovers, an example of a 'sung story' using a combination of prose and verse.ย  This was the first book to be illustrated by Anne Anderson.ย  A handsome, heirloom volume.
