First edition.ย 220pp, with monochrome plate illustrations.ย Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine.ย 8vo.ย Cloth a little pushed at spine ends, very slightly rubbed on corners.ย Text block edges dust darkened.ย Internally a hint of creaminess to page else neat, clean and tight. In its original worn and torn dust wrapper, toned, especially over spine, bumped at edges.
Caruso (1873-1921) was an Italian tenor, famed for his operatic performances, singing in all the major concert houses of Europe.ย He was one of the first singers to make recordings, using the acoustic process which predated electrical recording technologies.
