First edition. x, 272pp, monochrome plate frontispiece and 23 further monochrome plate illustrations. Maps on endpapers. Green publisher's cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine. 8vo. Cloth a little faded around edges, gently rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends. A little spotting on first and last few leaves else internally neat, clean and tight. In its original worn and torn dust wrapper with significant loss on backstrip, shelf worn and beginning to brown.
