1st edition. xii, 330, [4 - list of subscribers], 34pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece and 15 further illustrations. Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering front and spine. 8vo. Cloth a little tired, lightly sunned over spine, gently rubbed at corners and spine ends. Text block edges a little spotted. Free endpapers toned, with small previous owner's stamp on front free endpaper and inked gift inscription on half title; occasional minor damage to pages edges.
Brothers Edward and Walter Bache were both musicians - Edward an organists and composer and his younger brother Walter a leading pianist and conductor noted for his championing of Franz Liszt. Their memoirs, here, compiled by their sister.
