xvi, 490pp, with 21 tissue-guarded chromolithographic plates and 351 wood engravings.ย  Red cloth-covered boards with elaborate gilt tool work and gilt lettering front and spine.ย  4to.ย  Cloth is rubbed at edges and, heavily, around spine, gently rounded at corners and spine ends.ย  Front hinge cracked, loosening front board and first signature.ย  Text block edges a little toned.ย  Some spotting and rusting throughout, markedly on first and last few leaves and tissue-guards. A handsome and imposing (very heavy) volume.
