In its original paper dust jacket, rubbed round edges and points, shelf worn, some chipping on folds, and a little faded, some toning visible on verso. A basic to intermediate introduction to the state of computing in the mid 1960s, with sections on Man and the Digital Computer; The Binary System; The Decimal System; The Analogue Computer; Programming - Control, etc.  Written as an introductory text, in admirably non-technical terms, now particularly interesting for the final sections on how scientists of the 19t60s saw computing developing into artificial intelligence and the uses to which that could be put.
