Aimed at younger readers, with suggested activities, this overview of life in a medieval monastery is largely concerned with Rievaulx Abbey and Ailred, who was the second abbot at Rievaulx.  Rievaulx was the first Cistercian abbey in the north of England, founded by twelve monks in 1132.
