Top edge gilt. 16mo.  Cloth is a little worn, lightly rounded on corners and spine ends, a couple of small, scattered white spots. Lang (1844-1912) was a Scottish writer and literary critic, now perhaps best remembered for his collections of folk and fairy tales.  He was also a book collector: first published in 1886, Books and Bookmen traces his experiences  in the world of literature and book collecting and with the people who inhabit.  Acidly witty at times, the collection of essays dig deep into the world of books and their makers and explores some of the seedier sides of book collecting, such as fraud and forgeries
