First edition, first impression.ย  58p, with 24 colour and monochrome plate illustrations. Bleu cloth-covered boards, white lettering front and spine.ย  8vo.ย  Cloth is a little tired, light faded and gently rubbed at corners and spine ends.ย  Some faint spotting on front endpapers, a little tanned on rear endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.ย  in its original paper dust wrapper, worn and toned around margins, rubbed on edges and corners, scuffed at spine ends, mildly marked. Alfred David Thomas, a notable Indian artist of the mid 20th century, was a native of Agra. A devout Christian, his great passion was to portray the Christian Gospels for the Indian people.ย  His pictures were described as "unique in their true oriental colouring and sentiment...making a universal appeal irrespective of faith".ย  As well as this book, which Thomas had published, his distinctively Indian Christian paintings were featured in William Dyrness's Christian Art in Asia.
