20pp stapled booklet in paper wraps.ย  8vo.ย  Covers are worn, rubbed along spine, with short crack at base of spine, stapled rusted.ย  A hint of page discolouration. Each evening after the close of formal sessions of the 1944 Labour Party Conference, a number of Labour leaders adjourned to a nearby hotel to hold the first international conference of socialist.ย  It was a memorable occasion for all involved - only a few months earlier nearly all of Europe had been lain under the heel of Nazism but the allied forces now seemed to be marching towards victory.ย  Politicians were meeting again, albeit under the shadow of war, to lay the foundations of a new international socialism.ย  This pamphlet is the first published account of the way that Socialist International gradually evolved from those informal meetings in London in 1944.
