The Observer's Book of Cathedrals; The Observer's Book of Castles (Collection of Observer's Pocket series, Two Volumes)

Two volumes, both first editions, first printings, published in 1972 and 1979 respectively.  Cloth-covered boards with coloured lettering front and spine.    Illustrated endpapers.  24mo.  Cloth on both volumes very slightly pushed in at spine ends; Castles has a small black dot on the front panel.  Upper text block edges a little dust marked.  Castles has a previous owner's stamp on the front free endpaper, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In their original glossy, illustrated dust wrappers, both very slightly rubbed and bumped at extreme edges with some fading over spines, obscuring titles. Observer's Pocket books is a series of pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne and covering topics such as hobbies, art, nature and history.  The first in the series - British Birds - was published in 1937.  The 99th title, the Observer's Book of Observer's Books was released in 1999 (by Peregrine Books) in a matching format.  The series was rounded to 100 with the publication of Wayside and Woodland in 2003.
