The Observer's Book of Horses and Ponies; Garden Flowers; Wild Animals; Architecture; British Butterflies; Music (Observer's Pocket Book Series Collection, Six Volumes)

A collection of six different titles from the Observer's Pocket Book series.  All uniformly bound in cloth of varying colour, with titles front and spine.  All illustrated.  16mos.  All volumes in generally close to or meeting very good condition, some are slightly pushed at spine ends, most have a little dust marking to the upper text block edge, and some have a previous owner's name or inscription internally, else are neat, clean and tight.  The previous owner's inscription inside Garden Flowers is ugly and disfiguring to the front free endpaper.    All in illustrated dust wrappers, shelf worn, rubbed and bumped, a little scuffed at ends of lightly sunned spines sometimes obscuring titles on spine.  Dust wrappers on Garden Flowers and British Butterflies are price clipped.  All reprints or revised editions issued between mid 1950s and early 1970s. Observer's Pocket books is a series of pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne and covering topics such as hobbies, art, nature and history.  The first in the series - British Birds - was published in 1937.  The 99th title, the Observer's Book of Observer's Books was released in 1999 (by Peregrine Books) in a matching format.  The series was rounded to 100 with the publication of Wayside and Woodland in 2003. Many of the titles have been revised, reprinted, updated and released in different dust wrappers over the years - it is estimated that there are some 800 variations - and have become collectible: the earlier numbers and rarer issues can be hard to find We have many books from the Observer Pocket Book series in stock and can offer generous discounts to those ordering more than one at a time.  Please inquire.
