American Firearms: The Colt Supplement (A Companion Volume to An Histology of American Firearms)

First edition, first impression. 94pp, plus numerous black and white plate illustrations.  Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  8vo.  Cloth is worn and rubbed, faded around spine and margins, lightly sunned over spine, with some scattered mild marks on verso.  Internally a little toning and spotting to pages.  Binding a little brittle. This volume was intended as a companion to Stephen Van Rensselaer's An Histology of American Firearms.  Van Rensselaer was a life-long and leading collector of Colt Firearms, assembling the most comprehensive collection of Coltiana in existence at the time.  This volume, published posthumously, makes available to all the material on Colt arms gathered by Van Rensselaer during his sixty years of collecting, accompanied with a selection of photographic illustrations showcasing items from his collection.  An important source of Coltania information and now a very hard to find title.
