First edition.Β  330pp.Β  Full brown calf leather binding, gilt rules on both panels, five raised bands to spine, with red and black spine labels.Β  All edges marbled.Β  Marbled endpapers.Β  12mo.Β  Leather is worn and rubbed, heavily so around spine and on corners, with some darkening in margins. Internally some faint and occasional spotting and darkening in upper margins, previous owner's name neatly inked on the half title, else neat, clean and tight. A lovely vintage volume, tactile with the patina of age and use yet still handsome and pleasing.Β  Β The four lectures in this volume are entitled Work, Traffic, War and The Future of England; preceded by an introduction and followed by an appendix with notes on the economies of the kings of Prussia.
