The Romance of the Clipper Ships

2nd edition, this edition with illustrations by Frank Mason (first edition and subsequent reprints had illustrations by J Spurling).  160pp, with colour plate frontispiece, further colour plates interleaved in text and monochrome drawing and decorations in text.  Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  8vo.  Boards are worn and marked, rubbed and rounded on corners and ends of a sunned (obscuring titles) spine. Boards a little softened.  Upper text block edge dust dulled, remaining edges spotted.   A copy previously in the library of the Royal United Service Institution with usual library markings on front endpapers.  Some internal signs of handling, slightly musty.  In its original worn and worn dust wrapper, with loss of some half of the backstrip, toned and some staining. A decent reading/working copy of this once lovely book, complete and robustly bound, but with only remnants of its former gloriousness.  A selection of articles from the magazine SAIL relating to clipper ships and their history.
