First edition, first printing.Β  174pp, with occasional maps and plans.Β  Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine.Β  8vo.Β  Cloth a little rounded at corners and spine ends.Β  Very slightly cocked.Β  Upper text block edge dust darkened.Β  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.Β  In its original price clipped dust wrapper, tanning internally, a little bumped at edges edges, lightly shelf worn. This copy from the library of the late George R P Gush.Β  GushΒ  was head of history at West Kent College but is perhaps better remembered as a key contributor to the development of early wargaming, and as an active wargamer especially in Renaissance wargames.Β  His Renaissance Armies (1975) has become a classic work on the topic.Β  He founded the Tunbridge Wells Wargames Society in the late 1960s, remaining its chairman until 2007.Β  A regular contributor to various wargaming and modelling magazines, he authored with Andrew FinchΒ  A Guide to Wargaming (1980) and the well-regarded Wargames Rules for Fifteenth to Seventeenth Centuries.
