Three volume set. Volumes published 1968-9.  All volumes have plate illustrations interleafed in text.  All volumes uniformly bound in olive faux leather with extensive gilt decorations.  Green gilded endpapers.  Yellow silk ribbon markers bound in.   8vos.  Volumes are dust darkened on the upper text block edges else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  A smart and handsome set. Heron Books' multi-volume series, 'Women Who Made History'  was published in the late 1960s and 1970s, comprising biographical works by various authors on historical female figures such as Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth I, and Amelia Earhart. The volumes usually included illustrations, an analytical introduction and an historical appendix.  Sold primarily as individual titles, complete sets of around 30 titles are rarely seen.
