John William Fletcher (1729-1785) was an English divine and Methodist leader.ย Working with John Wesley as a key interpreter of Wesleyan theology in the late 1800s, he became of one Methodism's first great theologians.ย His Equal Checks and Scripture Scales - which clearly sets out his Arminian standpoint and supports Wesley further - was the first distinctively Wesleyan theological work published by someone other than John of Charles Wesley.
