First edition, first impression.  480pp, with coloured maps to endpapers.  Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on red relief on spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little pushed in at spine tips.  One corner a little rounded.  Hint of foxing on text block edges.  Internally neat. clean, bright and tight.  In its original faded and rubbed dust wrapper, a few minor chips on edges.  Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Sutcliff's modern interpretation of the tale of King Arthur, a deeply moving book written with her usual imaginative power and clear identification with the characters.
