First edition, first impression. 174pp, plus three sections of black and white plate illustrations. Tawny cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. 8vo. Cloth a little pushed in at spine ends. A little dustiness and a couple of minor indentations on text block edges. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated, matte dust wrapper, a little faded, chapped around edges with some minor loss, short closed tear at head of spine. Barlett's book about the island of Elba is part travel book, part guide book and part history of the island, with a focus on Napoleon's time on the island.
