Likely a first UK edition (previously published by the Hindu-Yogi Society, Chicaso, USA)Β  72, [4], [22]pp.Β  Blue cloth-covered boards withΒ  titled blind embossed on the upper panel and gilded on the spine.Β  12mo.Β  Cloth is tired and unevenly faded, especially along upper edge and around spine, gently rubbed at corners and spine ends, spine titling dull.Β  Upper text block edge dust darkened, remaining edges toned.Β  Heavy spotting on endpapers, with faint and occasional spotting on first and last few pages. The Science of Breath explores the link between the physical and spiritual self, and how breath control can lead to mental clarity and well being.Β  Yoga Ramacharaka was one of several pseudonyms of William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932), an American lawyer, author and occultist who was a leading figure in the New Thought Movement of the early 20th century.Β  He wrote extensively on the practice of yoga, Eastern philsophies and breath control, his books often blending Western ideas with Easter thought.Β  Many of his works were published by the Hindu-Yogi Society, which he founded.
