First edition, first impression.ย 216pp, with several sections on monochrome plate illustrations.ย Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to spine.ย 8vo.ย Cloth a little rubbed at edges, more markedly so at spine ends. Text block edges yellowed.ย ย Mild strip tanning on endpapers else internally neat. clean, bright and tight.ย In its original illustrated dust wrapper, toned, chipped and shelf worn with the lower third of the backstrip absent.
Davis's original intent in writing this volume was to highlight the fun and adventures arising from competitive driving and trials in the early part of the 20th century.ย But almost inevitably it is also an autobiography of the man who was, for thirty years, a racing driver and sports editor for Autocar.
