Maureen Connolly was an American tennis player, the first women to win a Grand Slam and the only player in history to win a title without l losing a set at all four major tennis championships.ย  Shortly after this book, in which she records how she learnt to play and sets out her experiences for her Grand Slam season, she suffered a horse riding accident which ended her tennis career at the age of 19 - just two weeks after winning her third Wimbledon title.
