Frist edition, first printing.  202pp.  Steel blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine. 8vo.  Cloth a little rubbed around spine and a hint of toning to extremities.  Rippled paste downs and heavy strip tanning on free endpapers, small inscription neatly inked on front paste down else internally neat and clean.  Square and tight.   In its original worn and torn dust wrapper, with areas of loss on spine. Louis MacNeice, perhaps better remembered as a poet, was a master of the broadcast play art form.  The four plays collected here show great variety and the first, based on Browning's poem, Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came, in particular is a work of imagination with some of the qualities typical of MacNeice's poetry.   MacNeice also provides a general introduction in which he discusses the theory of the broadcast play in a personal and semi-autobiographical manner.
