Bedales School: The First Hundred Years

First edition, first impression.  334pp, with black and white illustrations in text.  Plum cloth-covered boards, gilt lettering on spine.  8vo.  Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In its original illustrated dust jacket, not price clipped, very slightly bumped on extreme edges. Bedales is a public school in the village of Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire. Founded in 1893 by Amy Garrett Badley and John Haden Badley  - its first headmaster - in reaction to the limitations of conventional Victorian schools. Notable former pupils include John Wyndham, ballet dancer Sir Peter Wright, Gyles Brandreth, Daniel Day-Lewis, David Armstrong-Jones, Lady Sarah Chatto, Minnie Driver, Lilly Allen and biochemist Robin Hill.
