The Mystery Book

1084, [2]pp, with illustrated frontispiece and a smattering of illustrations in text.  Brown cloth-covered boards.  Chunky 8vo.  Boards are heavily worn and unevenly faded, gently rounded at corners, heavily scuffed at ends of a spine with the cloth cracked the length of the spine.  Text block edges yellowing.  Internally some faint and scattered spotting throughout else generally neat, clean and tight. An extensive collection of mystery stories grouped into 'Mystery and Adventure', 'Crime and Detection' and 'Stories of the Supernatural', with contributions from May Sinclair, Sir Walter Scott, Bram Stoker, M R James, Henry James, Allan Cunningham, Walter de la Mare, Daniel Defoe, Dorothy L Sayers, Michael Kent, Nathaniel Hawthorne,  Freeman Wills Croft, Edgar Allan Poe, H G Wells, Morley Roberts, J J Bell, Willkie Collins, and many others.
