First edition, first impression.Β  Circa 60pp, with colour illustrations.Β  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.Β  Grey endpapers. Slim 8vo.Β  Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout barring a neat gift inscription pencilled on the front free endpaper.Β  Β In its original glossy dust wrapper, lightly shelf worn and gently bumped on extreme edges. When photographer and teacher Stephen Brigidi first visited Pompeii he was captivated by the luminousΒ  frescoes of angels on the decayed walls of the ancient city.Β  Here, long after the destruction by Vesuvius in AD 79, the angels remained, timeless and transcendent.Β  Working with his photographs of the angels, Brigidi began to feel that the poetry of the angels could be best communicated when combined with with the response of another artist.Β  That artist was Richard Bly, whose powerful poetry accompanies Brigidi's images, creating a dialogue between the poet and the photographs which amounts to a mediation on men and angels.
