Roy Vickers was the pen name of William Edward Vickers (1889-1965), an English journalist, court reporter and mystery writer and the author of sixty or more crime fiction stories.Β He now perhaps best remembered for the creation of a Department of Dead Ends at Scotland Yard which specialised in solving old cases by chance rather than strategic means.Β The Department of Dead Ends featured in 38 of his detective novels - many of which were first published in Pearson Magazine.
