There's a little shelf wear on the rear cover else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. The small Kent coastal town of Westgate, on the Isle of Thanet, was built as an exclusive gated community to enable wealthy Victorians to leave behind the grime of the city for bracing sea air and green countryside.Β  The railway was all important and the new line from London put Westgate on the map for the privileged few.Β  Among them was renowned illustrator and cat artist, Louis Wain, who lived in Westgate for over 20 years.Β  During this time he created some of his best work for books and magazines of the day.
