First US edition, first impression (published two months earlier under the title The Commodore in the UK).  384pp.  Emerald cloth binding, gilt titles on the spine.  12mo.  Covers are worn, rubbed and soiled at edges, bruised at ends of a sunned spine, obscuring titles.  Text block edges toned with traces of dust.  Bookplate on the front free endpaper indicating that the volume was donated by the Book of the Month Club to the Armed Forces.  Previous owner's name neatly inked on the title page.  A little toning internally else neat and clean.
