First edition, first impression.  454pp,  monochrome portrait plate frontispiece and further monochrome plates interleaved in text.  Purple cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth slightly rounded at corners and spine tips.  A hint of faint spotting on text block edges.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original worn dust wrapper, quite heavily chapped around edge with a few bumped on edges and minor loss on corners and spine ends. Rufus Isaacs (1860-1935), was a British liberal politician and judge, Lord Chief Justice, Viceroy of India and also served as Foreign Secretary.  He was the second British Jew to join the Cabinet and the first to serve as Lord Chief Justice.
