Ten volumes (of 12), set lacking volumes I and V.Β All volumes issued during the 1950s and early 1960s.Β Circa 400pp per volumes, with numerous captioned tissue-guarded colour plate illustrations in each volume, together with further illustrations in text.Β Green cloth0overed boards with gilt lettering to spine.Β Top edges sprayed green.Β 4tos.Β Β Boards just a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends ends. The sprayed upper text block edges are faded toΒ different degrees.Β A previous owner's name neatly inked on the front free endpaper in each volume, and some occasional faint spotting on endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.Β All volume in their original illustrated dust wrapper, a little toned and bumped at edges, some general shelf wear and sunned spines.Β An interior protective kraft wrapper has been added, working wonderfully to keep the volumes clean, but was taped to the dust wrappers, and now that tape is old and discoloured.Β The dust wrapper on volume III has a discreet tape repair.
A good, solid and presentable set (lacking two volumes) of this monumental work on British Birds written by a former curator of the British Museum of Natural History (know as the Natural History Museum.
Please note that this is an extremely large and heavy set, with a packed weight of circa 15.5KG and will incur an additional charge for overseas delivery.Β Please inquire, giving the destination country and preferred shipping speed, for a shipping estimate.
