Bottom 2cm of title page removed. The additional ten pages contain pasted-in newspaper clippings, hand-written notes and a pasted-in manuscript letter, all contemporary. An introduction to the pottery and porcelain collection of the Museum of Practical Geology, founded in 1835 (latterly the Geological Museum, now part of the Natural History Museum) - one of the oldest single science museums in the world. This is the first edition: two further editions appeared in 1871 and 1876 respectively.
