Previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper, else neat, clean bright and tight. In its original dust jacket (very slightly rubbed on corners and spine ends). Features the explorations of Fr Clifford Palgrave, the first westerner to reach Riyadh; Thomas Manning, the brilliant linguist, the first European to enter Lhasa; Charles Waterton, proclaimed the first naturalist for his trips to Guiana etc.
