214pp plus publisher's catalogue at rear, monochrome plate frontispiece and vignette drawings in text. In grey cloth-covered with green lettering and decoration (boards are worn, rubbed and rounded at spine end and corners, with some marks and fading). Two previous owner's smudged inscriptions on front fly leaf. Spine darkened. Spine ends worn. Internally a little age discolouration and some pages show signs of fingering and mild edge damage, some marks and occasional corner creases. A selection of prose and readings selected to acquaint the reader with American life and manners between 1600 and around 1850.
