With contributions from Sir Gervais Rentoul; Rt Hon J R Clynes; Major-General J F C Fuller; Commodore C Pursset Phillips; Sir Seymour Higgs; Sir John Kennedy and Captain Sir Malcolm Campbell. The Pictorial History of the War was originally issued in weekly parts; this volume, part of a 26 volume series, contains the weekly issues covering the period 25th October 1939 to 19th December 1939. The first article in the volume reproduces Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty, broadcast address to the nation of 12 November 1939, on the first ten weeks of the Second World War. viii, 320pp. Copiously illustrated throughout, with 627 black and white reproductions, 7 special drawings, 8 specially drawn maps and 2 presentation plates. Half bound in maroon morocco leather over maroon cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Maroon endpapers. Title page printed in red and black. (Boards are lightly worn, a little rubbed at edges, more markedly so around spine with some light scuffing, and lightly marked). Gutter cracked between front endpapers and title page. Pages show signs of having been overly compressed in the past. 4to.
