Signed by Federic Manning on the limitation page. 192pp. In strong brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Bevelled edges to boards. Deckled page edges. With the bookplate of Mary Wentworth Kelly, the noted T E Lawrence private collector who endowed Jesus College, Oxford, where Lawrence had studies, with the Mary Wentworth Kelly Fund to support research and to commemorate Lawrence. 8vo. Cloth gently rounded at spine ends. Some minor tanning on endpapers only. In its original glassine and paper dust jacket - the glassine is cracked with some loss over the spine. Presented in its original slipcase which is a little worn, especially on corners. Scenes and Portraits revives leading thinkers from the past, such as Socrates, Francis of Assisi, and Thomas Cromwell, bringing them together to discuss religious topics, written in the form of several disputes between the great thinkers, each providing the view and arguments of his era.
