The Messiah: Scared Oratorio in Vocal Score

Undated. 3pp of publisher's ads (including on endpapers), 210pp, 11pp of publisher's ads (including rear endpapers). Quarter-bound in brown cloth under tan paper-covered boards; brown decorations and titles on front; gilt titles on spine, with musical scores throughout. 4to. Boards worn with some water stains and a section of peeling and rumpling at the top edge of front board, discolouration from a price sticker on front upper corner. Spine ends heavily rubbed with cloth split in places, bumped midway up spine. Edges heavily worn with paper worn through, corners rubbed and rounded. Bottom text block edge lightly soiled, fore edge foxing (affecting page margins), top edge dusty. Endpapers tanning. Hinges stretched. Title page tanned with a name written in pen (dated September 24th 1885). Some pen marks on first page of index. Some foxing on endpapers and prelims. With works by Spohr, Mendelssohn, Weber, Mozart, Beethoven, Hayden and Bach.
