Undated [circa 1940]. xvi, 1680pp, 8pp advertisements in rear. 32 colour plates and nearly 700 illustrations. Quarter bound in red cloth over olive green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles and embossed design on spine. 8vo. Boards generally worn, cloth rubbed at spine ends and corners; lightly bumped bottom edge of front board. Top text block edge dusty; edges tanning and foxing, slightly affecting page margins. Front hinges cracked and stretched, volume a little loose. Occasional spotting.
