Six lithographic prints of rural scenes. Cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and decorations. Richly marbled endpapers with inner gilt dentelles. Elephant folio (approximately 16 by 12.5 inches). Disbound, each leaf completely detached. Lacks several leaves, including title page, but all six prints present. Boards are heavily worn, scratched, scuffed and marked, rubbed all round edges, cracked along spine joints with some loss of backstrip at base. Armorial bookplate on front paste of Ormathwaite (likely Baron Ormathwaite, 1798-1881). Two of the prints show some heavy spotting, one of which is creased across the centre; four remaining are generally neat and clean although all six have edge damage where they had been bound to boards. Also included, loosely laid in, are a series of lithographs and prints, many also by Francis Nicholson showing various scenes from around Yorkshire (several of Scarborough and its vicinity) and two of which appear to be of buildings in Kurrah, India. Includes title page to another Nicholson publication, A Second Series of Six Views of Scarborough and its Vicinity, Drawn from Nature and on Stone, and some of the additional lithographs may be from this publication. Some smaller sketch prints, of which a couple have been hand-coloured. Some in very good condition but a few are toned or spotted and several have some edge damage. A rare collection of Nicholson's work from circa 1820s worthy of further research and restoration, hence price.
