xiv, 434pp with twelve illustrations by Marcus Stone, Samuel Palmer and Clarkson Stanfield.ย  In brown cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. 12mo. Some faint spotting on upper text block edge.ย  In its original illustrated dust jacket, a little shelf worn and very slightly bumped at spine head. The illustrations for American Notes are taken from the Cheap edition of 1850, and the Illustrated Library edition of 1862-8; and those for Pictures from Italy from the first edition, 1846, and the Illustrated Library edition. The Oxford Illustrated Dickens (known as the New Oxford Illustrated Dickens prior to 1966) is a comprehensively illustrated complete set of Dickens work. Each volume includes up to seventy-six early engravings, many of which appeared in the first editions of these works. The text is derived from the Charles Dickens Edition, revised by the author in the 1860s.
