First edition, first impression.ย  188pp, with 21 monochrome photogravure plate illustrations.ย  Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine.ย  8vo.ย  Cloth is worn, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, a little softened, sunned over spine.ย  Text block edges toned.ย  Previous owner's name neatly inked on the front free endpaper. Pages rounded on corners, some faint and occasional spotting. A study of the life and works of George Frederic (sometimes spelt Frederick) Watts (1817-1904), a popular Victorian artist and sculptor and husband of leading English actress Dame Ellen Terry.ย  Watts' biographer referred to him as 'England's Michelangelo'.
