256pp, with engraved frontispiece, extra illustrated itle page and tight page with engraved vignette. Red cloth-covered boards with extensive blind embossed and gitl decorations on front and rear panels and spine. All edges gilt. 32mo. Cloth is worn and darkened, singificantly rubbed and roinded at corners and spine ends. Hinges cracked. Some spotting on endpapers, faint stamp on front free endpaper, a little creaminess to pages and occasional minor bump on fore edge of pages and two creaed corners else internally neat, clean and tight.
An unusual anthology of poetry popular in Britain in the mid 19th century, with contributions from Lord Byron, Longfellow, Southey, Coleridge, Scott etc as well as a host of other poets whose reputations have not survived the passage of time so well. Sweet little volume - please note, the typeface in this volume is quiet small.
