The Maestà of Duccio, is an altarpiece  made up of numerous separate paintings commissioned from Duccio di Buoninsegna by the city of Siena in Tuscany at the beginning of the fourteenth century.  It was Duccio's major work and the first altarpiece known to have both a front and back.
