Complete in two volumes. Facsimile reprints of the 1872 edition. xii, 504pp; vi, 520pp. A matching set: both volumes uniformly bound in laminated, stiff card covers. 8vos. A little gentle edge wear to card covers on both volumes; minor indentation on the top edge of the rear cover of volume two, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.
A classic work of 19th century travel literature in which Sir Richard Burton turns his hand to describing the charms of the of the spice island of Zanzibar. Burton's trip to Zanzibar was soon after the death of the great Sayvid Said, the first Sultan of Zanzibar, during whose reign many Omani Arabs came to live in the region, bringing great prosperity.
