First thus, first printing. lxxvi + 864pp, illustrated. Dark blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Large 8vo. A couple of tiny faint marks on the cloth and a hint of shadowing on text block edges else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. In its original dust jacket, a little shelf worn, gently bumped at edges and lightly rubbed on corners and spine ends.
One of Dickens' earlier novels , the text in this edition is based on the accurate Clarendon edition and includes the prefaces to the 1850 and 1867 editions as well as Dickens' drafting plans and other editorial and scholarly apparatus.
