Text in Italian. Complete in two volumes. 466pp, with occasional black and white plate illustrations; 336pp.  Uniformly bound in green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on brown relief front and spine.  8vo.  Boards and bright, clean and crisp. Volume one has some toning to text block edges. Both volumes internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  The dust wrapper on volume one is worn and marked, rubbed at edges with some tiny chips.  That on volume two has a little gentle shelf wear.  Volume two is presented in its original slipcase, rubbed all round edges, with chipping and brushing, particularly around the opening. A history of the Real Teatro di San Carlo, Naples' opera house.  Founded in 1737 and among the oldest of the world's still active opera houses, it has served as a model for opera houses throughout Europe and is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
