Second edition.ย  xvi, 200, [8]pp, with numerous black and white plate and in text illustrations.ย  Signed and inscribed, 'with the author's compliments' by Harry Hobbs on the title page.ย  ย Plum cloth-covered boards with gilt titles front and spine.ย  Green endpapers.ย  8vo.ย  Cloth is very heavily rubbed and unevenly faded, with small, scattered chips, cracked all around a very heavily sunned spine, marked, and front panel slightly loose.ย  Text block edges a little toned.ย  Small, scattered chips on endpapers and some faint and occasional spotting, title page lightly toned. A few minor signs of handling else internally neat, clean and tight. A very hard to find volume, written by Harry Hobbs (1864-1956)ย  the valued chronicler of Calcutta life at the height of the Raj who started out as a London piano-tuner and ended up establishing his own company in Calcutta importing, maintaining and tuning pianos.
