First edition, first impression.ย 260pp, profusely illustrated in black and white and sepia.ย Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering front and spine.ย Patterned endpapers.ย 4to.ย Some faded to cloth on and around spine else volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.ย House is in its original slipcase, cloth-covered and illustrated.ย The slipcase is a little rubbed and marked, unevenly faded.
J B Dancer (1812-1887) is often credited with inventing microphotographic slides, which use a camera and a reversed microscope to reduce the size of an image.ย In fact he mayย not have been the first but he was certainly the master.
